* Short_abstract This dataset contains canopy space-filling, abundance, leaf traits and productivity data to identify the biodiversity-productivity relationships in the forest. The data were collected from the Sardinilla experiment in Panama in 2017. The analysis was done in subplots (4 subplots nested in 1 plot). Because of the high mortality (>85%) of C. alliodora in the first year of the experiment, the species' monoculture data is unavailable. Following that, C. alliodora available in 12 subplots in 2017 was excluded from the datasets.

Extensive_description_of_the_dataset List of files: - Data.csv contains canopy space filling, aboveground productivity (AWP) and leaf trats data. The canopy space filling data was collected with Riegl scanner. Multiple scans were taken per plot and processed into 3D point clouds. The pointclouds were clipped into 4 subplots and analysed canopy space filling per plot. Diameter and height measurements were taken from 2012 and 2017 per tree per subplot and analysed per subplot. Aboveground productivity (m3/year) with a form factor of 0.4. Leaf trait data were collected in May 2017. It includes leaf dry matter content (LDMC), specific leaf area (SLA), leaf nitrogen content (LNC), leaf carbon content (LCC), and leaf carbon to nitrogen ratio (C:N). All traits data were analysed to get community weighted mean (CWM) of each trait. - CSFI mono.csv contains canopy space filling data of monoculture subplots. - AWP mono.csv contains AWP data on monoculture only. - Abundance.txt: Abundance.csv contains the abundance per species per subplots. - metadata.csv: Detailed description of all variables in the data files above, including units and data types.
